Kansas City Coalition Against Sexual Exploitation
The BIG Search KC - October 18, 19 & 20, 2018
This outreach effort will result in the distribution of booklets and baseball cards with information on youth who are missing in our community. These materials are being developed in partnership with F.R.E.E. International and KlassKIDS. Not only will our community have a heightened awareness of missing youth that we may see in our neighborhoods, but our community will also have a greater understanding of how to report tips regarding missing youth. This effort will build the capacity of our community to identify and respond to the needs of youth who are missing. We are very grateful for collaboration with local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies in support of The BIG Search KC. We are also grateful for a host of partners representing service providers, churches, civic organizations and corporations who are listed at the bottom of this form.
Background of The BIG Search
The BIG Search was started by Brad Dennis of KlaasKIDS and Florida Coalition Against Human Trafficking in Tampa Bay (in 2009) as a collaborative outreach during the Super Bowl. Since then, The BIG Search has been part of every Super Bowl and Super Bowl city except this last year (2017), where it exclusively took place in Las Vegas. There have also been BIG Searches at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, Kentucky Derby, and many other events. The success of these events has led to two 90-minute presentations to the National Association of Attorneys General, been chronicled in major Law Review Journals and led to the receiving of the 2015 FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award.
